The Sunshine Coast begins at Caloundra around 90minutes drive north of Brisbane with holiday havens stretching north along a scenic coastline for some 60kms to the stylish resort town of Noosa and the riverside communities of Noosaville and Tewantin. The coastline boasts some of Australia’s most appealing beaches starting at Caloundra and including Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Coolum, Peregian, Sunshine Beach and Noosa Head Main Beach along with yet more beaches tucked away in the Noosa National Park on the peninsula. There’s a holiday destination to suit different tastes and needs with good dining options especially at Noosa and Noosaville in the north and Mooloolaba further south.
Inland lies historic villages such as Eumundi with its famous markets each Wednesday and Saturday; rich farmlands of ginger and sugar cane and lush countryside that leads up to the picturesque hinterland of the Blackall Ranges with the popular villages of Maleny and Montville. Beyond the main coastal havens the Sunshine Coast continues north embracing the pristine beaches and dunes of Great Sandy National Park with the beachside community of Rainbow Beach that can be reached by 4WD along the shores of the beach or by road from the rural centre of Gympie.
