Looking for a Whitsundays Experience? Your experience options are loading below...
The Whitsundays is a tropical wonderland of 74 islands, brilliant blue seas and coral reefs. It’s little wonder then that many of the activities, tours, adventures and experiences involve being on the water – or at least traversing the sea to get to some of the Whitsundays’ highlights. Visit Queensland can help connect you with memorable tours, day cruises and activities for your Whitsundays holiday.

Two ‘must see’ items for the Whitsundays are Hardy’s Reef – part of Queensland’s World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef; and arguably the most perfect beach in the world – Whitehaven’s 7km of fine white silica sands and translucent aquamarine waters. These two icons of the Whitsundays consequently feature in a variety of tours and cruises.
You can spend the day on the Cruise Whitsunday pontoon moored adjacent to a section of the reef and go snorkelling or diving or you could even book a Reefsleep for an overnight adventure staying on the reef. The wonders of the reef are spectacular underwater but the mosaic of corals is also extraordinary from the air aboard a scenic seaplane flight that can take you to the reef and Whitehaven.
Various daytrips head to Whitehaven and one option is sailing on a classic gaff-rigged schooner or step aboard for a sunset sail. A tallship excursion will take you to fringing reefs off deserted tropical islands where you can go snorkelling and swimming amongst the turtles. As well as the tallships you can sail these waters in sleek racing yachts or take one of the 2-day tours. If you are after adrenalin then how about a jet ski island safari or skim across the surface with an Ocean Rafting tour.
Back on shore why not go exploring in the rainforest or along the boardwalk on a Segway – a great way to see more of Airlie Beach and the surrounding National Parks. You could even go exploring up river on one of the crocodile cruises and meet some of the local crocs.
With so much to experience in Queensland’s beautiful Whitsundays, use every minute of your holiday well by planning ahead and booking your tours and experiences with Visit Queensland.
